Malcolm McDiarmid

Malcolm graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachhelor of Dental surgery in 1994, with credit. In his final undergraduate year he received the Leask Memorial prize for excellence in clinical dentistry.

In his first of year of employment he worked as a dental house surgeon at Auckland, GreenLane and Middlemore Hospital gaining valuable experience treating medically compromised patients, dealing with traumatic injuries and dentoalveolar oral surgery. He then travelled to England and worked in general dental practice both private and NHS at Seven Oaks, Kent. Malcolm is currently studying towards a diploma in implantology with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh under the guidance of Dr Kevan Wong, a Tauranga based implant specialist.

He is a member of the NZDA and Australian Society of Implant Dentistry and Affiliated member of International Congress of Implant Dentistry.


Amanda Johnston

Amanda Johnston (nee Sanderson) was brought up in Whangarei, studied in Dunedin and graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Otago University in 1993. She then travelled to Great Britain and worked in and around London gaining experience in general dentistry and enjoying travel opportunities. In 1998 she returned to Whangarei and has been working in general dental practice while balancing family life.

Amanda enjoys helping her patients feel better about their teeth and their treatment. Dentistry provides a great opportunity to help people smile!

In 2012, Amanda was elected to the Board of the New Zealand Dental Association and in 2013 joined the NZDA Executive. She has been President of the Northland Branch of NZDA since 2007. Amanda is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.


Ngareka Bensemann

Ngareka Bensemann recently graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (with credit). She previously worked in a busy private practice in Auckland, before moving to Ruakaka to enjoy the quieter life by the beach.

Ngareka has a gentle manner with patients and strives to do the best for each and everyone she meets.

Sadie Wasson Practice Manager

Sadie is our practice Manager, she is also a qualified chair side dental assistant and has been with the practice since 2002.
